Did you know that the National Museum of Malaysia is holding a new exhibition? In fact, there are two temporary exhibitions that are taking place inside the museum now. That means there are six stops including four permanent galleries inside there which are Gallery A – PreHistory, B – Malay Kingdoms, C – Colonial Era, and D – Malaysia Today and the two new shows.
Let’s see the two new exhibits inside the Muzium Negara. .
Global Plague Exhibition: Pandemic, Epidemic and Endemic
Inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic, this site shows some of the past plagues around the world. You will get information about the causes and solutions of every contagious incident that happened throughout the ages. You will also see the transition of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) since more than a 100 years ago from the bird headgear to the current PPE worn by our frontliners. This exhibition takes place at the Central Hall of the museum from December 2020 until March 2021.
The Power of Gold Exhibition
Did you know that gold is actually the strongest of all metals? Also, this metal is kinda hard to find because it is buried deep in the sand. Gold has its own power that makes everyone crazy to have it as a symbol of wealth – normally it will be used to create accessories such as necklaces, rings and more. This yellowish metal is also related to royalty especially on their belongings like the furniture, keris in our culture, and more. And for its history, you can also see the golden stick owned by Sir Frank Swettenham, the first Resident General of the Federated Malay States. This exhibition takes place at Gallery 1, Malaysia Museum Officer, just behind the Museum and it is available from December 2020 until June 2021.
Interesting right? Do visit Muzium Negara to get more infos about the new exhibitions and knowledge about Malaysia history. But don’t worry you can still do a date after the MCO is lifted and always follow all the rules and SOP during this movement order.
