Hey, guess what? AirAsia Malaysia (AK) just had its first-ever flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kertajati in West Java, Indonesia! They were super excited about it!
The flight took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 9:05 AM and landed in Kertajati International Airport on the same day at 10:20 AM local time. And you know what? The passengers on flight AK418 were greeted with a warm welcome by some important folks like Bapak Drs. Benny Bachtiar M.SI, who’s the Head of Tourism and Culture for the Province of West Java, and even His Excellency Dato’ Syed Md Hasrin, who’s the Ambassador of Malaysia to Indonesia.
This is a big deal because AirAsia is the first low-cost airline to fly internationally to and from Kertajati after the whole pandemic thing. Kertajati International Airport is the second biggest airport in Indonesia, and it’s a hub that connects travelers to cool places like Greater Bandung, Cirebon, and other parts of West Java and Central Java.
Riad Asmat, the CEO of AirAsia Malaysia, said they’re super honored to be the first low-cost airline to bring travelers to Kertajati. They’ve been flying between Malaysia and Indonesia since 2004, just so people can experience the awesomeness of both countries or visit their loved ones easily. And get this, they’ve flown over 2.5 million guests between the two countries in 2019 alone! That’s a lot of people!
Their mission now is to make West Java and all of Indonesia a must-visit destination in ASEAN. So, with this new route, more locals and tourists can explore the cool town of Kertajati and its nearby attractions. And guess what else?
