From June 28 to 30 this year, the scenic landscape of Resort Tasik Raban in Lenggong came alive with the vibrant energy of the Lenggong Outdoor Festival (ODF24). This annual event, now in its third year, has cemented its place as Malaysia’s premier outdoor festival, attracting enthusiasts from across the nation and beyond.
With the theme “Unplug & Reconnect,” ODF24 offered a unique blend of nature, adventure, and cultural heritage, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees. The lush greenery, sparkling waters, and historical sites of Lenggong provided the perfect backdrop for this celebration, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of the natural environment.
A Growing Community of Outdoor Enthusiasts
ODF24 witnessed a remarkable increase in participation, reflecting the growing interest in eco-tourism and outdoor activities post-pandemic. This year’s festival saw a significant rise in attendees, from 1,500 in 2023 to an impressive 1,982 participants, marking a 45% increase. This diverse crowd included individuals from various age groups and regions, showcasing the widespread appeal of the event.
The enthusiasm was palpable as people from all walks of life, from seasoned adventurers to first-time campers, came together to share their love for the great outdoors. Can we break the 2,500 mark in 2025?
Diverse Activities and Engaging Workshops
The festival featured a plethora of activities catering to all interests and skill levels. With 20 different outdoor activities, including watersports, extreme sports, endurance challenges, and leisure camping, there was something for everyone. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to participate in eight workshops and classes, ranging from camping 101 and survival skills to watersports clinics and coffee-making sessions.
These hands-on experiences provided valuable knowledge and fostered a sense of camaraderie among participants. Will there be new workshops to discover next year? Maybe an advanced survival course or a new extreme sport to try?
Cultural and Educational Highlights
One of the standout features of ODF24 was its focus on the rich cultural heritage of Lenggong. The festival included several UNESCO programs, such as the “Let’s Lenggong” package tours, which offered participants an in-depth exploration of the area’s archaeological and geological significance.
These tours, which attracted 662 paying participants, included visits to the Mini Amazon Kg Beng, a boat cruise, and an engaging session on the history of the Lenggong Valley from the Paleolithic era to the present day. Imagine walking in the footsteps of ancient civilizations or cruising through breathtaking landscapes — it’s an experience like no other! What new historical insights and adventures will the UNESCO programs bring in 2025, you think?
Community Engagement and Support
ODF24 was not just about adventure; it was also about community. The festival received strong support from local communities and operators, with 88 local operators, including food and beverage vendors, tour packages, and transportation services, actively participating.
This local involvement added a unique touch to the event, ensuring that the festival’s benefits were shared with the Lenggong community.
The vibrant marketplace buzzed with activity, offering a taste of local flavors and crafts that enriched the festival experience. How will the local community surprise us next year? Perhaps with new culinary delights or unique cultural performances?
A Successful Gathering of Like-minded Individuals
The festival’s success can be attributed to the strong sense of community and shared passion for the outdoors among its participants. The event brought together 250 campers across three picturesque campsites, creating a vibrant and supportive environment.
Additionally, 94 attendees chose to stay in chalets and homestays within the Lenggong Valley, further immersing themselves in the local culture and hospitality. Each campsite buzzed with stories, laughter, and new friendships forming under the starlit sky.
Could we see even more campers next year? Maybe new accommodation options or themed camping experiences?
Looking Forward to 2025
As the curtains closed on ODF24, there was a palpable sense of anticipation for next year’s event. The Lenggong Outdoor Festival has not only grown in numbers but also in its ability to inspire and connect people with nature and each other.
The success of ODF24 is a testament to the dedication and passion of its organizers, sponsors, and participants, all of whom have contributed to making this festival a highlight of the Malaysian outdoor calendar.
What new adventures await in 2025? Will there be new activities, expanded programs, or even more immersive cultural experiences? The excitement is already building — mark your calendars and get ready to unplug and reconnect once again!
